How 3D printing helped Derby the dog find his feet

What’s more heart-warming than a real-life story
about how 3D printing helped a dog with deformed front legs to run for the
first time?
This is exactly what happened when Tara Anderson, an employee at US
firm 3D Systems, heard about Derby’s plight through a dog rescue group, Peace and
Paws. 3D Systems happens to be a 3D printing and manufacturing company, so it wasn’t
difficult for her to rally work colleagues to meet the challenge.
In
collaboration with an animal prosthetics
expert, and using highly sophisticated 3D modelling software and a
state-of-the-art printer, a pair of tailor-made prosthetics were soon winging their
way to Derby. Reports are that as soon as they were strapped on, a delighted Derby hit the ground
running.
