CLIP – A New High-Speed 3D printing technology

A new 3D printing technology announced by Carbon 3D has the
potential to be a game-changer. Not only is it able to print at speeds up to 25-100 times faster than existing 3D printers, its makers also say that that the polymer-based objects it makes are of a higher quality with better structural integrity than ever
before. The new technology, called CLIP – Continuous Liquid Interface
Production technology – harnesses light and oxygen to continuously grow objects
from a pool of resin instead of printing them layer by layer. If the technique can
be perfected, Carbon 3D predicts that it will move 3D printing technology from
its rapid prototyping niche to being used to make mass produced goods.
